And today was Independence Day. I did want to go to Asuncion to see the various events that were planned. However rain had been forecast for a while and it did rain heavily for much of the day. So rather than getting soaked trying whilst trying to find out what had been cancelled or moved to another day I am hoping for better weather next year to experience Asuncion in full celebration mode.

Which awaits developments in the 1840s and 1850s. And having been here just a couple weeks ago, a bit like the Alamo in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by a thriving metropolis that towers over and around the little “house” that made such a difference. Thankfully intact.
